Our Story

We have been producing wine in the Montefalco DOCG since 1971. Since then, our goal has remained constant: to achieve quality production through a meticulous approach that combines research and experimentation of new agronomic and oenological techniques with respect for the culture and tradition of our territory.

1971-2021 FIFTY YEARS - DISCOVER THE PROJECT

Our story begins in 1971, when Arnaldo Caprai, a former Umbrian entrepreneur in the textile sector invested in 2002 dehe title of Cavaliere del Lavoro for Merit in Agriculture, acquires forty-two hectares a Montefalco, four of which are already planted in the Val Di Maggio estate, for realise the dream of running a wine farm. Determined a valorise the enormous potential of the indigenous vine Sagrantino, progressively annette to the estate the best adjacent land. In 1986 theson's arrival Marco Caprai to the running of the company marks the turning point in the area's wine history.

Thanks to the fruits of this research, at the beginning of the years Ninety the Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG "25 Years' of the company conquers critics around the worldturning the spotlight on a hitherto little-known Italian wine-growing area. 
From that moment on, Arnaldo Caprai, with its wines that are unique in terms of elegance, longevity and refinement, has sinonym of Italian excellence
Today we manage 160 hectares of vineyards located in all four cardinal points of the Montefalco DOCG area where, in addition to cultivating the native Umbrian vines Sagrantino and Grechetto, with the same passion, expertise and vision, we grow other varieties, including typical and international ones, such as Sangiovese, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon, for the production of quality wines.
