MONTEFALCO BEARS THIS NAME, WHICH REPLACED THE ANCIENT COCCORONE OR CORCURIONE, BECAUSE FREDERICK II GAVE IT TO THE TOWN AROUND 1249–50, FOLLOWING HIS STAY. FALCONS ARE NO LONGER FOUND, BUT THE ANCIENT CHARM OF THIS PLACE HAS PROBABLY REMAINED INTACT THROUGH THE CENTURIES.
